Structure

Woodfuel East is set up as an Unincorporated Association (a contractual relationship between partner organisations, but having no separate legal identity), and is hosted by the Forestry Commission.

The project is overseen by a Steering Group made up of representatives from the sector, to guide the strategic direction of the initiative and set detailed outputs and activities in an annual Business Plan. The Steering Group meets quarterly and is chaired by an independent chairperson (paid an honorarium) who has a formal relationship with both the Forestry Commission and the wider partnership.

The detailed operation of the project is overseen by an Executive Committee made up of the chair, five  Steering Group members (including the representative of the Forestry Commission and EEDA) and the Woodfuel East Manager. This committee meets on a more frequent basis to ensure the effective implementation of the business plan as determined by the Steering Group, to which it reports.

Four  full time staff will be initially employed by the project:
